190 - Randy Clayton

For this episode I interview Randy Clayton, a former Guelphite, now-Brantford resident, and retired radio personality and bus driver. When Randy reached out to connect with me (having seen my posts about this radio show in the facebook group "If You Grew Up in Guelph Do you Remember") we were delighted to discover that we both have careers in radio-making and bus driving in common. So we HAD to connect for a radio episode of our own! Randy takes us on his journey to radio making - his start at CFRU in his teens, his passion for sports (and when he was lucky enough to get to do some sports broadcasting), sharing stories of hosting a country radio show at CKPC in Brantford with notable highlight interviews with Roy Orbison, Kenny Rogers, and Sweet Daddy Siki (the country-music-playing-professional wrestler). And then of course he takes us out on his bus in stories, sharing some of the places he's been and funny moments along the way. Bus driving and radio-hosting were Randy's two childhood dream-jobs and it was such a pleasure to get to hear his adventures with both. Thank you Randy for being our guest today!
