64 Saleema Nawaz (Songs for the End of the World)

Today I interview Saleema Nawaz, an author based out of Montreal Quebec.

Saleema's incredible new novel is called "Songs for the End of the World", and it is beautiful, moving, and eerily realistic - as it centers around a global pandemic. The surreal part of this is that Saleema finished writing it over a year ago, long before we were living through one.

Years of research make this book not only authentic and believable, but somehow also hopeful and inspiring. And while it may seem odd to escape from a real life pandemic into a fictional book that teleports you into another one, it was perfect - you are truly rooting for these very human characters as they aspire to pull through and keep each other safe. It's a wonderful read for these trying times.

From the book:

"How quickly he'd forgotten a fundamental truth: the closer you got to the heart of a calamity, the more resilience there was to be found."
